Cassette J-Card Maker — Print-Ready Inserts
Cassette tapes are back. If you're recording a mixtape or releasing on cassette, you need a J-card — the folded paper insert inside the case. MiniMax Converter's J-card maker lays out Side A and Side B track listings, accepts custom cover art, includes print bleed marks, and exports a print-ready PDF sized for a standard cassette case. No DTP software required.
What gets generated
A folded J-shape layout: front cover (spine + cover), Side A track listing, Side B track listing, back cover. Fields for: album title, artist, label/catalog number, year, side labels, track names with durations, total runtime, custom artwork (cover image + optional inside-spread image), credits/liner notes text. PDF output sized to print on A4 / Letter with bleed marks for trimming.
How to use it
- Open Tools → Audio → J-card maker.
- Fill in album metadata (artist, title, label, year).
- Add track listings — paste from clipboard, or drop audio files and let the app pull durations.
- Upload cover art (recommended 1200×1200 px or higher for print quality).
- Optional: tweak fonts, colors, layout. Live preview as you edit.
- Export PDF. Print on A4 / Letter, trim along the bleed marks, fold into the cassette case.
Print tips
Use 80-100 gsm paper for stiffness. The bleed marks let you trim with a craft knife and steel ruler — print and trim a single test first to verify alignment. For runs of 50+, send the PDF to a print shop with "cassette J-card, A4 cropped to 110×113mm folded" as the instructions.
Questions and answers
Standard cassette case dimensions?
102×64mm (cassette itself), J-card folded ~110×113mm with the spine portion of ~64mm wide and ~12mm spine width. The tool handles all this automatically.
Can I do a multi-fold (heavier-stock J-card)?
Yes — there's an "extended" mode for heavier-stock folds with more inside panels.
What fonts work for the design?
System fonts on your machine. For consistent print, paste artwork as a flattened image including the typography (use Affinity Publisher / Inkscape / Figma for the type, then drop the rendered image).
Will it run my track durations through the audio files?
Yes — drop the tape's audio files and durations + total runtime auto-fill. Useful for matching the side lengths to actual tape lengths (C30 = 15min each side, C60 = 30min, C90 = 45min).
